"Moving Forward" towards seeing you in Chicago

HCTD has an exciting program of twenty-one sessions at NCA this year. The diverse program, featuring 69 competitively selected papers and several competitively selected panels, reveals the breadth and depth of the division’s interests and its members’ scholarship. Some of the traditional topics (distance education, online instruction) were under new scrutiny as scholars moved our understanding of perceptions and perspectives forward. Some 30% of the panels scheduled feature the new NCA discussion panel format. We're looking forward to some great dialogue at these sessions.

In keeping with the conference theme, "Moving Forward/Looking Back", many of the programs take a retrospective look back at where we have been and project ahead to where we are going – or need to go. This years programs investigate deceit in technology, security issues, and the role of technology in the creation of public memory. Other programs focused on the creation and maintenance of the self through technology, how we create and define environment in these contexts, and how competencies are viewed in virtual contexts.

See you in Chicago.
